PHONICS

Phonics is a method for teaching reading and writing to children in primary schools. Children link sounds (phonemes) and their written form (graphemes) in order to recognise and read words, using basic units of knowledge to “decode” new or unfamiliar words.

At Dovecote Primary School, we use Read Write Inc. which is a proven systematic synthetic phonics programme that ensures early success in reading, writing and spelling.

This page is dedicated to supporting you parents in continuing the learning the children are introduced to during their time in phonics sessions.

Each picture will take you to a short session on how to learn the speed sounds in set one, two and three. We will also send videos home via Marvellous Me that relate directly to the sounds being learnt that week. We hope this helps.
