Headteacher Updates

Hello to everyone at the end of a very different week. I will put a weekly update on the website.

I hope that you are all well and coping with the new situation that we all find ourselves in.

Not surprisingly, we have had a HUGE increase in the number of people visiting the school website. I hope the resources are helping you keep some structure to your day. Using the school activities, and the free online / YouTube offers, it is possible to put a day together that is fun and keeps building on school and life skills. Thank you to the staff for maintaining this and to Andrew Hodgson for managing the site so well.

The government's advice is very clear. We should all stay at home if we possibly can. Thank you for your response to this. We are providing provision for the pupils of key workers, but we are very grateful for the way families have approached this. Emma and Michaela are doing a fantastic job in providing this provision in the ARC (Sport’s Hall) and staff are supporting them on a rota basis. Obviously, we want to protect staff from unnecessary contact, so we are all grateful for your support in this. We will continue to provide this provision, including over what would have been the Easter holiday.

I think that we are all coming to terms with the fact that this is likely to continue for a while. We will continue to update the resources on the website and remember, you can contact the staff using the year group emails that are now available. As time goes on, we will look at other ways of keeping in contact. Look out for video messages from staff. We are also looking at how to run the annual decorated egg competition so start thinking about that – but don’t waste those precious fresh eggs. Anything egg (ish) shaped is fine.

We are also looking at how to recognise the achievement of the pupils that would have been in achievement assembly for the Spring term.

Stay safe and look after each other.
