Music news - NottStopping Festival 2020

Don't forget that on the weekend of 23 and 24 May there will be the NottStopping Festival to enjoy!  Whatever the weather, the best music, and arts from Notts will be celebrated across the weekend, including lots of fantastic performances featuring the children and staff of Nottingham City schools!

You may already have seen the beautiful new version of our charity single, If Every Child Could, featuring the winners of our Family Easter Music Challenge and released earlier this week - if not, catch it on the NMS NottStopping stage!

Full details of the festival, including line-ups, activities and schedules can be found on https://nottstoppingfestival.com/  and to whet your appetite there is a trailer to give you a flavour of what's in store!  You probably noticed the NMS / schools collaboration of Tequila! in the trailer - we'd like to say "Thank you!" again to all those who took part!  To see the full, fantastic performance of Tequila! tune in to the NMS stage of the NottStopping Festival.

On between 1.00 - 2.00pm or 5.00 - 6.00pm on Saturday 23 May

Catch it opening the show at 11.00am on Sunday 24 May

The City Nature Challenge

The City Nature Challenge is still going ahead this weekend, although we're not encouraging people to make special trips out, rather we're asking people to take part at home - in their backyards, on their balconies, in their sheds and even inside the houses.

We're seeing it as an opportunity for families to take a closer look at their environment and realise how much wildlife there is, learn what it is they're looking at and feel more connected to nature. From a research perspective, many of our most common species are under-recorded in the UK and while we know a lot about species in nature reserves, there are big gaps in what we know about the wildlife on our doorstep. The data that is collected through this initiative is really useful to help policy makers make more informed decisions about the future for our local wildlife.
