Meet The Gardening Club!

The Gardening Club meet every Thursday at lunch time for an hour where they work hard in the ‘Secret Garden’ to grow fruit and vegetables for a small enterprise project. The children involved are responsible for the maintenance of the produce and independently find the time to water the garden during the school day. Towards the end of the year the produce grown will be sold to a local kitchen in Nottingham who will provide the club with cookery workshops in return for the reduced cost organically grown produce.

Green Scene Education

A recent addition to the schools activities has been employing the services of Green Scene Education. Green Scene Education is committed to improving the lives and futures of children through outdoor, environmental learning and natural play.

The team at Green Scene Education have been working with the children at Dovecote Primary School for just over a year. Sarah Taylor and Anna Bond have helped our children to grow vegetables, fruit and flowers whilst also helping the children to understand their wider environment and their role within it in relation to wildlife and nature.

Some of the exciting projects coming up this year include the installation of a new wildlife pond, a welly wall, chilli project, wildlife border and vegetable and cut flower sales.
