Reception Updates

On this page you will find updates for Reception.  There may not need to be one every week.  A Marvellous Me will be sent out after the page has been updated to inform you.

Update 11.10.20

The children have now had the opportunity to meet their new class teachers.  Mrs Mahon (pronounced marn) will be teaching the Joeys and Miss Measom will be teaching the Platypups. The children met the teachers on Friday.  They will meet them again on Wednesday and will have the opportunity to meet the suppport staff that will be working with them too on Wednesday.  The children will move into their new Year One classes after October half-term.  We have already started passing over information about the children and the new teachers are looking forward to teaching them!  The children will be keeping the same start and finish times and will still enter and leave through the Brinkhill gate.  We will keep you posted about any further transition information that becomes available.

Comic Relief have released news of their exciting new eco-friendly red noses.  They are the first plastic-free noses.  Further information about them can be find here: https://www.comicrelief.com/nose/

We have just one week left with our lovely Reception children.  It's hard to believe it!  Our key learning next week will continue to be filling lost learning gaps, and also transition work in preparation for Year One.

Update 2.10.20

The end of another busy week!  This week we enjoyed House Colour Day and Pyjama Day.

Notifications should have gone out informing you which Year One class your child will be after half-term  If you missed the message, Platypups (Mrs Norris) will be moving into Miss Measom's Class and Joey's (Mrs Hill and Miss Hall) will be moving into Mrs Mahon's class.  Further information about transition will be available next week and children will have the opportunity to meet their new teachers and support staff before they move into Year One.

Thank you to those who have donated to the Foodbank in aid of our Harvest appeal.  It is not too late to donate - donations of canned and dry goods are appreciated at any time.

If your child is off school and self-isolating, please check the Reception Home Learning page. You will find two weeks of work that can be done from home.  Please keep in touch with us through the class email so that we can see how your child is getting on with their work.  There are also some useful suggested apps that you may be interested in that support English and Maths. Home Learning>Reception.

We talked about the importance of getting a good night's sleep today and how it helps us grow and learn.  If you think your child has tried hard to settle down at bedtime and go to sleep, send us a message on the class email and we'll give them a stamp.

Our key learning books next week are Stinky Jack and the Beanstalk and Give us a Smile, Cinderella.

Mrs Harris' Baby

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the delay in sharing these photos with you. It has been a whirlwind 3 weeks with our new arrival. I have finally found time after my husband has returned to work yesterday.

Jackson Theo Harris arrived in the early hours of 24th August and we are completely in love with him.

Hope you are all well. I am missing the children lots. I will check in with them again soon to read them a story with Jackson.

We got to see Mrs Harris and Jackson on the big screen.  Mrs Harris answered lots of questions about Jackson and read us a story!
